The Canadian Government recently provided more information on the Canada Dental Benefit. Bill C-31 has now received Royal Assent and is a law. Canada Dental Benefit is one of the targeted affordability measures of this legislation.
The interim Canada Dental Benefit is intended to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year. Parents and guardians can apply for the Canada Dental Benefit if the child receiving dental care is under 12 years old and does not have access to a private dental insurance plan. In such a case treatment may be obtained at our dental clinic in Scarborough or our dental clinic in Oshawa.
Depending on your adjusted family net income, a tax-free payment of $260, $390, or $650 will be available for each eligible child through the Canada Dental Benefit. This interim dental benefit is only available for 2 periods. You can get a maximum of 2 payments for each eligible child through the Canada Dental Benefit. Benefit payments will be administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the Canada Dental Benefit.

Your benefit amount depends on your adjusted family net income in 2021. Canada Dental Benefit amounts are based on 3 slabs.
- less than $70,000
- $70,000 to less than $80,000
- $80,000 to less than $90,000
Book an Appointment with a Dentist
You will need to provide the information about your appointment and get your treatment done before the expiry of the benefit period.
When to apply
Canada Dental Benefit applications opened on December 1, 2022 for dental care your child receives between October 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
The second benefit period of the Canada Dental Benefit will open for applications on July 1, 2023. This will cover dental care your child receives under the Canada Dental Benefit between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
