Oral sedation dentistry is a medical procedure involving the administration of oral sedative drugs and the use of Nitrous oxide and oxygen, generally to facilitate a dental procedure and reduce patients fear and anxiety related to the experience.
The process allows even the patients with a dental phobia to have a calm and relaxed dental experience. Some people become groggy enough from moderate oral sedation to actually fall asleep during the procedure. They can usually be awakened with a gentle shake.
