Orthodontics (braces)

There are many options available to treat crowded, spaced or rotated teeth. Your dentist will be able to provide you with some of these options that may be suitable for you. Prior to this treatment they may need to take xrays and study models.

While most treatment is started between ages 10 and 14, some may need them earlier. Braces can be placed at any age. The treatment durations may vary from 1-21/2 years on average

The conventional braces are affixed on the teeth. They need to be cleaned after every meal. Routine visits to your dentist for scaling cannot be overemphasised. The plaque around the metal/plastic brackets can lead to white spots, discoloration, gum disease and decay if hygiene is not maintained. Lingual brackets are placed on the back of the teeth. They are hidden from view but harder to clean.
