There are many options available in order to achieve a brighter smile. There are two main types of whitening: in-office and at-home.
This is done in a dental office. The dentist applies a light activated whitening gel on your teeth. The entire procedure lasts around 90 minutes.
This involves placing a whitening gel in custom-made trays made by the dentist. The gel consists of peroxides that release radicals to whiten your teeth. It takes upto two weeks to whiten all your natural teeth.View video on Home Whitening
These consist of thin pliable strips with a bleaching agent on one side. The strips are placed across your teeth for 30 minutes a day, twice a day. Treatment duration and results vary.
These work to remove surface stains and mildly lighten the teeth but don’t lighten the actual color of the teeth.
If conventional methods of masking discoloration, e.g. whitening/bleaching don’t work for you, your dentist may recommend veneers. These are thin shells of material (composite or porcelain) that are bonded on your teeth. These may require from one to three appointments and a mock-up of the final result prior to bonding.
